been delivering cutting edge
magic shows in Miami that not
only break the mold of traditional
entertainment, but offer
a window into the genius of
two creative masterminds. Together they combine a
“magical” blend of comedy,Vegas-style costumes, impeccable
choreography, and of course, illusions that will leave
you awe-struck. 411 was able to steal Kevin Jeffery away
from rehearsal to ask him a few questions about his craft,
private life, and what we can expect next from Kevin &
Caruso.
KEVIN JEFFERY: It's unlike anything you've seen, or
think you've seen before. The Kevin & Caruso show brings
imagination to life with a whirlwind of excitement and
razzle-dazzle rivaling the big Las Vegas type show. The
show features magic, illusions, comedy, costumes, showgirls,
lasers, special effects, and so much more.
Usually from music. I'll hear a song and envision an illusion
or scene to match. I also watch a lot of live entertainment,
and specifically watch for what the audience
reacts to. You can learn a lot more from the audience
than you can from the shows sometimes.
Everything you see at the Kevin & Caruso show is
designed and produced by ourselves with the help of our
longtime friend and costumer, Louise Wallace. From the
lighting and music to the comedy and magic – and all the
feathers and rhinestones in between – our shows are a
labor of love, which we proudly produce on our own so
that it retains it's uniqueness.
In addition to our Saturday show at the Deauville, we
also have three full stage shows running on Carnival
Cruise Lines, two of which we perform in during the
week (we fly back and forth), and the third we produced
for a female magician, “Deja.” Having four shows running
simultaneously keeps us very busy with performing,
maintenance, updates, etc.
Siegfried & Roy, David Copperfield, Greg Thompson,
Mark Kornhauser.
I started late. I was already out of high school when I first
started performing. At age 19, I saw my first live magic
show and was hooked. I quickly reorganized my life to
accommodate my new passion and I can't imagine doing
anything else.
Good and bad.
Caruso and I are really one in the same. We have worked,
lived, and hung out together seven days a week for the last
18 years, but not in a 'boyfriend' sense. We respectfully pursue
our private interests without conflict or jealousy, which
I believe is how we've made this work for so long.
TV – we're currently writing some material for the latenight
talk show circuit. We just need the connections now!
